Buckle vs deployment
Was thinking of purchasing new straps, just wanted to get your feedback. If your gonna shell out $$$ for straps is it better to invest in a deployment buckle, seems like straps would last longer.

Straps are pretty robust (especially those made for Panerais). I don't see it making much a difference unless you are talking a very long period of time. I would say it's more about preference of what you like to wear.

Blech,,,,,deployant. Sorry. Buckles on Panerai are more comfortable IMHO.
Just buy a ton of straps and enjoy what it means to have a Panerai.

my oem strap is 9 years old(i think) on buckle and still works fine. i like the traditional look of buckle.
a lot easier to measure as well as switch between straps. |

Depends on the type of strap... deployants work better with some sizes/materials, buckles work better with others
Vintage/ammo/casual straps only really work with a buckle imho

It can use either, but in this pic it was on a deployant. I don't like it however, but it is my wife's so that is why it is on there.

I bought my PAM 88, in part, because it had a deployant. Thought it was cool.
Hated it from day one. Never sat right on my wrist and would pinch like hell. Straps with buckles are the way to go. |

Deployant is way too curved for me as well. Doesn't work. Maybe just my wrist.

Quote:
A buckle made strap can only use a buckle. It is thicker than a deployant strap and not usable by a deployant which needs a thinner strap.
