The Amish Mafia
I have caught bits and pieces of this show. I think I have to throw the BS flag on this "reality" play. (not unlike most/all of them, but I know- it's entertainment) Are there any Amish-Rolex wearing-forum members here on Rumspringa that can confirm or deny my suspicions? Just checking.

I think at the end of the show it says the show is based off stories etc etc, all fake IMO. I went to college in Lancaster and never heard of such a thing, the gangs in Lancaster city were another issue though.

The entire show is scripted and acted. There is no reality here. It's just like the real estate, pawn broker and storage locker shows ... all faked.

Yup, 100% contrived, anything "based" on stories means it's "interpreted" and MADE UP!!!

I don't watch any of them but I don't think there is much reality in reality shows, my wife has a relative who is the chief writer for one of the more successful ones and he gives the participants their lines.

Doubt there are many Amish people powering up their nonexistent computers so they can log onto an internet forum.

They had a special episode on last night where they asked the participants if it was real and they all said "yes" so there's your proof!

Reminds me of an old joke:
What goes clippity-clop clippity-clop clippity-clop BANG clippity-clop clippity-clop clippity-clop? an Amish drive-by shooting. |

I watched a couple episodes then stopped cause I highly doubted it was real. I can't imagine the Amish people letting a guy like that operate in that fashion.

Even if it was real it's not exactly The Sopranos. I mean a guy gets in trouble with the boss because he held a buggy race on his turf and didn't give the boss a "taste" of the profits?
Illegal buggy races? Yep, these guys are bad ass!

As to the show being legit I have no idea but it is not uncommon for the Amish to get involved in drug dealing and other less than legal activities. They hate "the English" but they love the money. I grew up the next county over and several times a year some group was getting busted for something. I think the show is pretty funny overall.

I think we should all know that the Amish, despite their ideals, are still human.
They have the same social problems that the rest of the world has, but perhaps in different proportions. I don't watch that show, but there have been enough stories in the news recently about misdeeds among the Amish to support the assertion that they are as subject to human frailty as the rest of us.

It's tc. Like all tv it's for entertainment. If people find it entertaining, amusing, whatever, they will watch. I find Impractical Jokers very funny and entertaining. How rea? I dunno.
Well I suppose some tv is educational, but that's entertainment of a sort. |

I caught an episode. Someone had come into the wrong county to sell his vegetables.
