RO and Beater just don't go together.

The face is a bit different as well. The orientation of the date for one is further in the dial with an added marker for 3, because the movement is the same size but it is stuffed in a larger case. You can notice this size issue when looking at the back of the 15400 as well. Also the AP does not appear at 12 on the dial of the 15400.

I have a 15300. Check the AP subforum out there and there are some comparisions there as well.

Both water resistant to 50mm. Same bracelet, but I'm pretty sure the clasp is different. The 15300 has the butterfly clasp, and the 15400 uses the folding clasp. I prefer the butterfly clasp.

i see. i went to the both boutique they have here in geneva but they dont have 15300, they said it is discounted. I also check in the pre owned shop but they dont have either so i need to see it in person. but the price here seems to be really high compare to US. they have 2 boutique and 1 AD which is bucherer so only 5% discount offer with cash.

I would choose the 300, its 39mm but wears like a 41mm so smaller than the Hulk which wears like a 41/2mm. They are discontinued so you have to buy used but you can get them for much less than a new Daytona and are then a great price.

The 15300 is discontinued but I believe they have yet to stop making them. I think it might actually be best to work with one of our trusted sellers on this DavidSW and he maybe able to help you with a 15300.

I purchased mine from him actually.

In the meantime it might be best to start posting more of these related AP questions in the AP subforum.

Why would any of them not be good for a daily watch?

Your right, but unfortunately sometimes we are not in the position where we can chose more than just one.

To be a beater is watch you leave on while you change the oil in the car. So none of my daily watches is worn for that situation . A beater for me is a watch that costs $ 100 or less. But I guess if money is no object a beater could be a DD. Everyone hear has a different opinion on what is a beater .

This maybe a bit difficult unless you can find someone who owns one that you can visit.

Good luck with your hunt.

That maybe fairly difficult if not near to impossible as well.

The AP with its sharp corners could show wear more easily - depending upon how you treat it. The watch can only be polished by the service center...for a limited number of times just something to think about.

The hulk with its all green is more of a novelty and a bit harder to coordinate with clothing...unless you wear all black or you are a leprechaun ;-)

Wow brother... Calling a SS Daytona a "beater" is a bit harsh!

I'm not a fan of the green on the Hulk so I would opt for an AP or another Rolex model but given your two choices, it would be a 15300.

I personally would rather get and in fact I have a 16610LV instead. I prefer lighter watches better, I like the maxi dial, and I like the green insert but not the green dial.

Hey Dan,
The 15400 uses the redesigned butterfly clasp.
