...EVERYONE...COUNTERFEIT Rolex listing...
...we have quite a bunch of NEW folks frequenting the WATCHOUT Forum.
...this is GREAT!! ...HOWEVER, at a MINIMUM, you should post the associated link, seller id, and PHOTOS of what is in question. ...so many times an item gets removed before someone else can view what was in question. ...the photo's serve to inform those that join us AFTER an item is removed. ...the link makes it easier to follow the item in question for all to review. ...and, the seller id does the same for monitoring by the forum members regarding repeat infractions. ...HOPEFULLY, you all will try to help accordingly. ...and, for "Chewbacca"........"still up on ebay however... not impressed"...........does NOT set well with me. I work TIRELESSLY to get the JUNK that YOU and many others thread here removed from eBay, and have been doing it for YEARS. ...so YOU understand, eBay sometimes takes longer to remove certain items. For example, Australian and the EUROPEAN items usually take longer because of time differential. Another fact, is that eBay gives "courtesies" to high FB sellers, by contacting them etc. before an item is removed, usually resulting in up to 24-48 hours before an item comes down. |

If I may humbly suggest, a reason for its being fake would help. Sometimes I scratch my head looking for why the piece was condemned because I just don't know.

It is also very encouraging to see scammers and crooks exposed very quickly and the help some members are offering to right a wrong. So far, a good deal of advice has been dispensed on Watchout!!! and what should immediately ring alarm bells: (1) Poor, fuzzy pictures with wrong model numbers. (2) Any statements that mention relatives, dead or alive, gifted it to the seller or the watch was found on the street. (3) Any 24 Hour Daytonas or Daytonas with calendars on them. (4) Wrong cyclops magnification, wrong hand stacking, wrong case and bracelet identification numbers or lack thereof, wrong combinations of SS or 18K gold , etc., etc., etc------ We still have the odd troll joining and and playing games and once this is determined, the mods have been active with a thread lock or outright banning. It is great that we have about a half dozen dedicated members contributing to the Watchout!! posts that spend a lot of time contacting Ebay to dump all the fakes and junk listed or flagging Craigslist ads. Your success rate getting a listing removed or flagged is very high - I would estimate a 98% success rate!! Kudos to you guys for your FREE service and advice - you have saved a semi full of disasters Keep up the good work, guardians of Rolex and Tudor, etc!!! J. Alan |

I wish I had more savvy when it comes to the computer. I still do not know how to copy and post pictures from the ebay site to a TRF thread.

One other thing is that we do not remove the item from ebay - ebay makes that decision based on our report.

I for one am very impressed at how you and others are so successful at getting bad auctions taken down. In my own experience of reporting, I can tell that Ebay isn't generally inclined to remove a listing based on any general member's report. We should all be grateful that some people have an inside track or Ebay's ear to get the job done, and whether or not it takes Ebay a day or two to yank an auction doesn't detract from our resident experts' knowledge or hard work. Ebay can sometimes be slow to respond. So what? At least it gets invalidated before someone gets taken. Bottom line is Ebay does listen, and thankfully there are people willing to volunteer their time and follow through consistently with accurate recognition of scams.
So I would like to propose a virtual toast for what you and others are doing. Someday, if given a chance, I'd like to make it a real toast with the good stuff. So here's to our TRF insiders for all their hard work!! Thanks and kudos!! It's much appreciated |

I also have to think that reporting fakes to Ebay, even if the item got sold, can only help the buyers case when/if he has the watch checked out, finds out it's fake, and wishes to dispute the transaction.

The snipping tool is the best way to copy photos. I believe it is a Microsoft download. Mine came installed on my computer a couple years ago with Windows 7.

Agreed. Everyone should be doing their own research in addition to what has been pointed out. There is no reason why anyone can't find a genuine article on the internet or in real life and compare it to the posted fakes. As I said before, you can't become an expert in a day. If you want to learn, do some research. Most of the time, it's obvious why it's fake.

Would it not be possible to make the "watch Out" section only viewable by members who have made a financial donation to the forum, or have had a certain amount of posts etc and then "members" could discuss in more detail ?
This may not be possible, just a thought. The Watch Out" is a great asset to us who are still learning but obviously a help to the scammers too.
