Updated vs previous models: do you notice a difference?

As we all know, the Datejust and GMT II and some other models have an updated case which is designed to be more comfortable. What I wonder is: do you notice the difference between the old and the new in terms of wearing comfort? Or is the difference not one you can feel? I was wondering because if there was a difference, I might prioritize buying an updated model first and wait to get a Submariner after they update it with the new case shape/design. If the difference is not particularly significant or noticeable let me know. Thanks.

My basis of comparison is the YM and GMT IIc. The main difference I found in terms of comfort is the bracelet. Specifically, its ability to be further adjusted than that of the YM (same as in the Sub).
Although the YM case is the most streamlined from the sports, the GMT IIc, although with a bulkier case, is more comfortable to wear because the bracelet allows for a perfect fit.

Yes...

Between the older Datejust and the newer TOG, yes, the bracelet feels different. Between my 16710 and 116710, yes, big difference. Although no watch is truly uncomfortable, the newer style case and bracelet combination does make a difference which one notices. The half-link in the newer bracelets is also an added feature that assists in comfort.

I have owned several Sub Dates and SD, and I must say that the new SS GMT IIc is the most comfortable watch I've ever owned. Perfectly balanced, and the low caseback adds to a perfect fit.

Sometimes I am in doubt if I have the watch on.

I agree. Even though my GMT 2c is hevier than my 5513 the new bracelet makes it sit perfectly on the wrist so you forget the watch. I also like that you can adjust the fit of the bracelet with the miniadjustment depending on if you need to wear the watch extra tightly.

My GMT IIc is the most comfortable watch I have ever worn - but I think this is more due to the new bracelet more than the watch itself. I don't have a SUB to compare to, but the GMT IIc's lower case back does make it a more comfortable package to wear that my SD.

Thanks for the advice--I think I should prioritize the GMTII and the Datejust for now, until the Submariner is updated. Thank you for your opinions, they are a big help.

I had the previous airking and traded it in for a datejust with the updated oyster braclet and I find that the new one is a little more comfortable than the old airking's oyster braclet, although the AK was still comfortable. However the new one looks much better and less "Kmart looking" with the old AK's clasp.

I had the 'older' 16234 and traded up for a newer 116234. AMAZING improvements that are well worth the price increase!
