Rolex with Sentimental Value

hey guys

just curious, besides being WIS, is there a Sentimental Value attached to your purchase of your Rolex ?

I started an audit practise this year and i bought my Rolex together with a MontBlanc pen to commemorate the occasion.

I cant imagine flipping it for another watch as it is of great sentimental value to me

i am asking this question as i always see a lot of flipping (you know i am refering to you JJ - )

just thinking aloud :)

Being a flipper, none of my Rolex watches were owned long enough to get any sentimental value.

I don't want to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol IS a solution!

Yep ! , Unfortunatly my Grandad passed in 98 . He left his Rolex to my Dad and my Dad gave it to me as a present and because I always took such good care of it , another reason - he said he would like to see me wearing it , rather than it lying in a safe.

Personally I'm a keeper and will never sell my Rolex - it was bought for its combination of beauty and functionality and will be with me for all time. I'm not sure if that is sentimentality or pragmatism!

I can see the slight potential for a second Rolex - but not sure yet whether it will get enough wrist time to justify owning one. If I do then the decison will be based on it's contribution to my life and ownership will be permanent

I can understand the flippers - it's the transient beauty that is probably the attraction (shoot me flippers if I am wrong). But the guys and gals that thave owned the same model many times are beyond me !!?!

My SD was given to me as an engagement gift by my girlfriend at the time, now my fiancee, so it holds sentimental value. I hope to pass it on to our children one day.

The only thing I could imagine that could be a problem with sentimental reasons associated with owning a Rolex is that it would make flipping it very difficult!!!
