"1680 Red" on ebay

Stan sorry for the lack of pics, but I don't know how to load pics from Ebay to TRF. I only know how to do it from photobucket. I contacted the seller of this watch to let him know the "questionable nature" of the dial. The auction is still ongoing.
Here is the link:

Looks like the "submariner" text was painted red over the original white lettering to me

These things are very dangerous because they are very expensive. In this case, coming from a seemingly reputable seller, the danger is still bigger. Reported.

P.S. I agree with OP. A "crash course" on bringing pictures from ebay to the forum would be very welcome.

You just save them to your desktop first, then use the upload button available in the tools.

Why a seemingly good seller like this one would risk his reputation not only as a seller, but also as a "connoisseur", is something I donīt understand. The watch is not so difficult to spot.

Just curious - was there a ever white meters first sub date or has the 200m=660ft be added as well?

If I understand your question correctly, I believe you are referring to the "submariner" writing in white.

There were three meters first versions, all in red, see pictures and a great write up in the thread below:

Reported. I wish they gave more space.

Meanwhile here's a photo of my 3.2 mil - also a'73. It's not perfect, but I love it. Note the differences in the dial.

I was referring to the comment re "Submariner" being coloured in/over printed in Red. That seems to be more common with the feet first white 1680, when the less than honest selleer may pass the dial off for the Red variant by colouring in the word Submariner. This of course can't be done with meters first 1680's as there is no white variant - they are all Reds.

the dial has been refinished. The R font is incorrect. it was also re-lumed. No way that a 3.7M serial will still have that color lume I think.

How I do it (avoids having to save the photos to your computer):

-Left click on the photo that has the "mouse to zoom" box.

-This opens another box with all the pictures.

-Select the pic(s) you want to bring over, right click the pic and select "copy image location"

-Go to your post box on TRF, place the cursor where you want to insert the pic, and hit the "insert image button" (mountain and sun graphics).

-Place cursor in the text box that opens up, right click and hit Paste, then click OK. Repeat for each pic.

The end. Note, if the listing is taken down the links to the pics will probably no longer work but at that point, no big deal. If they are too big then I suppose you'd have to download them to your computer and resize them before posting them here.

Hope this helps

De nada. Glad I could help. This method is definitely faster because you don't have to download to your computer and then upload them to TRF.
