Good news guys!

I sold my Aqua Terra to my good friend (was'nt my style) and although I'll miss it I picked up a nearly new Seamaster Professional Chrono, bought from the original owner a great guy named Sunny on TZ who bought it himself from TZ's fave Omega AD less than a year ago!
Has all the papers and other goodies even the original receipt so still under full warranty too! So far only a second off in 48 hours. I love having a chrono again.... enjoy the pics!

Ahh, that Omega came from the same place as mine. I've been to his store. Jim is one of the finest men in the jewelry business! His wife is wonderful too! I've bought 3 watches from him, as well as my wife's engagement ring stone.

I've heard that Jim is the best in the biz and when/if I ever buy a new Omega it will be from him for sure...

Speaking of ADs a local store had Omega's on sale for 30% off as I guess that they are a victim of Omega's new stricter AD policy and are losing their dealership... the saleslady said that the Deville Chrono I was looking at was "COSC" certified and that is a rare thing in watches "You'd have to buy a $10,000 Rolex to get a COSC version!"

Sorry buddy maybe next time!

I went with this rather than the Ti version as the price was right and the SS is such a nice solid feel and heft. I'll let everybody know what I think in a few weeks once I have it on every day and get a real feel for it... still only -1 sec in a few days!

No regrets at all! In fact the only regret I had was selling the one I owned a couple years ago but that one although in excellent shape was not as close to brand new as this baby is...

Interesting write-up... albeit old. Allow me to broadcast my ignorance and ask about the movement. I see he claims it to be the Valjoux 7750 and current versions claim the 1164. What's the story on this? I'm also somewhat surprised at the weight of the Ti version @ 142g. Still reasonably hefty. Do you know the weight of the SS version? Must be pretty heavy. The heaviest watch I own is 161g and, though not a problem, probably the upper limit of what I would consider 'reasonable' for my sized wrist. I also notice he lists the height as 49mm (ha). I assume the actual height is more like 16.5mm as listed elsewhere. That's approaching pretty thick as well. Too bad the chronometer carries with it the thickness issues. Thinner would be desirable. Regardless, this is one great looking and unique in function tool watch. The combination of depth rating, helium valve, pressure rated pushers and great aesthetics make this watch a keeper for sure

According to a few sites I checked it is a beefy 211g! I really don't notice it all that much and find it comfortable with it's hard to ignore presence on my wrist. This has all the uniqueness and reliability that anyone would ever need in a top notch diver/tool watch... still only off by -1 sec!
Good luck with that Ti version I'll keep my eyes peeled for you OK?

Thanks Ren... There's a couple on fleabay right now, one has bid up more than it's worth and the other in sketchy condition. Any steers are welcome (not the bovine type). Just an FYI, I'm also weighing a rather unique and hard to find Marathon...

Pretty much the same specs but w/tritium vial (traser) lume.

Yeah, a few things to weigh out. The Omega has the advantage of 'name recognition', known service network, light(er) weight, bracelet included, great looks, etc., etc...
The Marathon has the H3 traser lume, Valjoux 7750 movement so service isn't impossible but an unknown (gaskets, etc.), probably much heavier, limited to impossible availability, pretty expensive for a 7750 based watch...

As for traser lume, it's usually guaranteed for 10-12 years. Actual half life is 12.3 years but it will continue to emit light beyond that. Actual useful life is not clear. Anyone interested in more info see HERE. All things considered, I really like both packages but am leaning towards the Omega...

I love that new version as well! The applied markers and longer hands are a great update in my opinion! That may be the only watch that would ever convince me to depart with my current SMP!

a seamaster is definetly on my todo list, as for the maratho watches there is tons of info on them at the watchuseek.com dive watch forums i also noticed chronoworld.com have gotten new shipment of 2008 contracts and also have 1 csar in stock, so quite possibly countycomm.com has gotten new stock as well.

I am looking at the gsar at the moment the csar is a bit hefty in price and size for me.
