Bought a new Sub-C
Good day all, I've been browsing these forums for a while, and decided to make an account today. I got a Sub-C for myself as a graduation gift. The idea of getting myself this gift helped me through my 4 years of Engineering, and I've never been this happy!
Now onto my question: I'm looking to get a NATO band for my watch, and I've read about all the tools you can get, and which ones are recommended... but being an Engineer, I tend to be somewhat resourceful. I know I can use a mechanical pencil to move the spring bars out of place, but I'm not sure how they can be installed after removing the bracelet. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks for your help :) |

I'm no expert, but the Sub C does not have lug holes. The spring bars are recessed on the underside of the face. I'm not sure you can use that to remove the spring bar.

You can use something flat to pop the spring bars back into the lugs after.
I highly suggest u spend $10-30 on a spring bar tool. I have the Bergeon 6767F. |

Id get a spring bar tool or jewelry screwdriver but any 1mm or whatever the actual size required, object will do to push back the spring bar.

It's going to hard . You have to push in one side keep it in the push the other side in with the other hand, and then move the bracelet .

Put in one side of the springbar. Cover the other side with a thin hard card (bus pass works great). Push the other springbar end into place and remove the bus pass. Done and no possibility of scratches to the lugs.

Oh as an engineer you should know to get the right tool for removing the bars. Either a Bergeon 6111 or 6767.

Pretty fast shipping too. I ordered a few things from them myself just last week.

Congrats. Sure you can use a pen, I've even used saftey pins. Whatever works for you.
You might want to put a heavy duty tape on the lugs before changing the bracelet/strap, it is easy to put some serious marks on the case, especially if you haven't done it before. |

Get a good springbar tool!
The Bergeon 6111 is perfect. One end for the bracelet and the other end in case you get a leather strap. You spent big bucks on your watch. Don't change spring bars with a pencil! |

Bergeon 6825 May be better
the Bergeon 6825 tool squeezes BOTH sides of the spring bar at once. It's a bit easier to use IMO, and I have used it on 16610

Just received and installed my NATO strap. I decided to go with toothpicks to remove the spring bars, and it literally took 15 seconds. I suppose I have a knack for these things
I'll get some pictures up when I get a hold of a camera. |
