Submariner in the Sandbox

Howdy all,

So, I have a Sub 14060M and will be deploying here soon and I'm kind of unsure if I sould take it with me. Not worried about scratches and usual wear and tear, but serious mechanical damage.

With my civilian job (Deputy Sheriff) I don't wear it often, because the nature of the job, but I 'm thinking what the hell take it with me, whats the point in having it if you don't wear it.Makes for a good ad: "been to Iraq and back". Any thoughts.....

As long as you have the mindset and its not going to distract you from your prime directive!, If I've got a "job" to do dont want to be second guessing were my watch wrist is 24/7 there's more important things to be worrying about!, as far as mechanical damage if the movements waterproof can't see sand being an issue with the same provisos ensuring the crowns screwed down

Don't worry..

The Sub can handle it..

I used to have one I wore in 'Nam. It was the one I was most proud of..

(if I could get my hands on the punk who stole it.....)

Wear it, use it, and someday, many years from now, give it to your son. God's speed.

There should be no doubt in your mind. Friends of mine are still wearing their Subs and GMTs from their tours of duty in Viet Nam.

Don't let getting it dirty worry you. It will be a nice companion. You'll have great stories to tell about it when you get back. Best of luck. Be safe.

P.S. Look up the Breitling Emergency. That's what I would bring.

Interesting. I've been pondering the same thing as I'm currently scheduled to deploy to Iraq in February. I don't want to damage it but I'd hate to be without it for so long. Best of luck.

Calileo,

God's speed, enjoy that baby while you're deployed. I'm a Deputy too, and wear mine to work. They were made to be used! Welcome to TRF, stick around for the fun, and send lots of pics!
