Sea Dweller with a cyclops
Looking at purchasing a Sea Dweller. The seller has ruined the crystal by adding a cyclops. Anyone know how much a new crystal from RSC would be for a f serial Sea Dweller. Will rolex insist on a complete service? I'm almost embarrassed to even send it in.

When was the last service? It could need a service if never serviced. I would negotiate into price of watch.

Super-easy to remove. tap the crystal with heavy masking tape, put some acetone on a Q-tip around the edges of the cyclops or just heat it very carefully, then chip it off with a razor blade. It takes less than a minute.

can you post a pic? I know it looks like a sub-date, but I've never seen an SD with a cyclops.

I Like to look at watches like I look at Woman sometimes. I think to myself you know I could have her fixed up real nice with just a little bit of work done. With that being said Incoming I picked her up this evening. I guess I will have to head to the tool shed tommorow and take a pair of pliars and a blow torch to that one eyed cyclops bastad. Here is a much better pick of her.

That dirty one eyed [email protected]/K. I almost like it, but it does ruin the cleanliness of the SD. Congrats on the pick up. Kind of like rescuing a stray dog I guess. Little mange, some mats, some bugs, but still a good companion.

Oh come on now ! If it was done right, it would be ok. I can't really see how it looks though with the blurry pictures. Send that cyclops to me, I'll have someone put it on my Pelagos.

Congrats! If it were me and I was apprehensive about sending it off to Rolex, then I would leave it to an independent Rolex trained watchmaker. I'd want the cyclops removed too-doesn't look bad but at the same time I'd like to have it as original as possible not to mention if you ever plan to sell it in the future and want top dollar. I think you'll be the perfect owner for it who can give the TLC it needs!

Can't understand why the guy just didn't buy a sub instead of modifying the SD.

Should be pretty easy to take off, I looked into taking the cyclops off my sub when I first got it.
Let us know how you do Oh, and Congrats!

In what year did they stop bevelling the lugs? Was it when they nixed the drilled lug holes?

I think they used a Sub's crystal on it. The SD crystal is quite a bit thicker and so renders the cyclops useless. That's why it was never on there to begin with!
