Where can I have this fixed?..and is it real?

Well, never know I will start one on these one day, but here we go,..

Visited a dear old friend in BCN. She knew I like watches, hence asked me if I can help her find a place to fix her Rolex.
It was given to her 40 +/- yrs ago, by a good friend as a present for family event.

Seemed to me the buckle was stretched open (she told me it was caught at the alum. door frame). Probably not difficult to bend it back to shape.
But material fatigue could be a concern. Does anyone know where I can have it fixed? The watch is currently in Barcelona.
Shall I bother to send it to Michael Young? As I also think the stretched bracelet can use a bit of re-conditioning.

Upon further inspection, though, I started to wonder if it is authentic.
I am not an expert, by all means. But the case back seemed off to me. Below are the photos:

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping for the best,...

The pics/lighting are a bit rough - but it does looks like a pretty good example of an older ladies Date to me. You might want an additional opinion, or two, but if approved, I think I'd send it Michael Young as you noted. Its not the latest Rolex stainless, but all of these watch grades tend to harden quickly and become brittle when cold worked (in this case, permanently bent). Chances are, it will fail during the reforming unless its annealed - and then it may be too far gone for that to work. MY can probably set it right for you - perhaps by replacement - and rework the stretch out of the rest of the bracelet. Good Luck!

The watch and bracelet look good. I have heard Michael Young is phenomenal when it comes to bracelet reconditioning. And if the watch need a service, I would send it to Dalton Toledo in Los Angeles. If the bracelet needs to be replaced, Steve Mulholland can find a very good condition period folded link bracelet at a reasonable price.

the watch looks a bit beat up but certainly real, it really depends on what you want to spend, this part is quite available from rolex or even maybe a AD, any good watchmaker could fit it, the watch cetainly needs a good clean up and polish but its up to you as a full restore may cost more than half what the watch is worth. I would likely just have a go at bending it back with flat heat pliers and a bit of heat first, it stuffed anyway so nothing to lose, if not then let a watchmaker fit the new part and ask for a polish at the same time.

...hmmm...

...watch and band are genuine.

...albeit, the dial appears to be newer?? David should be able to address the dial.

...the early ladies watches had that exact stampings on the case back.

...likewise, the band is an early "rolled link" Jubilee.

...just need to get the band repaired.

...any competent jeweler can make the part needed out of other pieces.

...hope this helps.

Thanks for all the constructive opinions!

I am soooo relived to learn that this seem to be genuine. It will of course remain a secret if it's not, as I don't see a point to break this news to a loving 72-year-old lady.

Can any one name the dial or the model # of this watch? I had my camera at that time, but battery was untimingly out, hence the phone photos.

The dial has not been changed, I am quite positive of that. She does not have the means nor the nee to replace it. I will search for Michael Young's info and send the watch his way. Hopefully it won't take too long.

...have the same watchmaker/jeweler that repairs the band to remove the band from both ends of the watch.

...at 12 o'clock you will see the model#. (FYI, the mdl# will be something like 6917 etc.)

...at 6 o'clock you will see the serial number (record it).

I think it's the fact that he's got 20 posts, called it a fake, and really didn't know what he was talking about. Or support his reply with evidence.

I believe he didn't realize it was an older ladies model and the case back engraving threw him off.
