My first Rolex

Hi there, I am new to the forum and the Rolex Community, and I am excited to be a part of them both!

I recently graduated from college and my father gave me my first Rolex. It happened to be the first one he ever bought for himself and he passed it down to me. I was thrilled.

However I don't know much about it. I know it is a datejust with a champagne face and it has a stainless steel and gold band.

I was wondering if I ever wanted to change anything about it, is it easy to do so, like the band, face, bezel etc...

I don't want to change too much about it because of sentimental reasons, but maybe a thing or two.

Also, do many people keep theirs on a winder when not wearing them? I am looking into purchasing one.

Thanks for your time!

PS... I would post a picture of it, but I am still trying to figure out how.

welcome & congrats.

i, too, received such a gift at graduation (mine was many years ago, though ). over the years i thought of making drastic dial, bezel, bracelet changes, but, ultimately, i settled on picking up a set of etur's end links to add a leather strap to tone down the two tone effect. your mileage may vary, but, i'm happy to have retained the essence of the gift from my parents while personalizing it just enough to have it be something i happily wear. and, down the road, my tastes may change, and it'll be VERY easy to go back to the original version.

Congratulations on your graduation. Your father's gift was both thoughtful and generous. I'm sure that you will find your watch to grow as a treasure. Wear it in good health!

Welcome! Since your father give it to you, that makes it priceless. Treasure, enjoy and wear it in good health!

Congrats! I would suggest to keep it original. Maybe put a strap on... no more than that.

In any case, keep all the original parts.
