If Panerai continues replicating historical models in 47mm, I'd be worried about dilution of the 127.

I think a 127 with a p3000 movement is inevitable, the question will be it it's a special edition or regular production, i think we'll see a ceramic version as well to replace the 375 that never happened and at some point i wouldn't be surprised to see a bronze version.

What will happen then to values is an interesting question, there will be a lot of old school collectors who will claim the new watch isn;t as good etc etc and still try and get top dollar for their pieces but i suspect with new people coming to the brand that will get harder and harder to justify. The inflated price was a lot to do with being the only 47mm luminor (with the exception of the crazy stuff) along with the 217.

I am sure OP look at the prices these pieces got for and release accordingly with new increased prices, the fact that the 448 was a rerelease of the 249 and there hasn't been a rerelease on the 232 i suspect reflects the price difference between the 249 and 232.

The only remaining big mark up pieces now we have new bronzos coming is the 127/217 and the 203/267. The 203/267 are protected by their movement, unless they do a 8 day p3000...

Yep. I wonder if the market is starting to fizzle a bit on PAMs (not the vintage or pre-V stuff).

I don't think Panerai is fizzleing, but the days of super over hyped models are slowing down. They are no longer a super niche company either. They have grown and have to deal with this growing demand.

Always (not just with Panerai) be careful when buying a watch for more than MSRP.

I would never buy ANY watch at MSRP let alone OVER MSRP. Too many deals to be had on the grey market.

It sat in ADs windows when 1st released and gathered dust from what I remember and it sold for below list price on the 2nd hand market for about a year before the hype took off.

Thinking about sitting around the table at a Panerai design meeting - I know a lot of people are upset over recent additions that are similar or the same as past models etc... - I just really wonder how difficult it actually would be to design completely different unique pieces all the time.

I know there are a ton of ideas and this forum as well as the other Forum talk about ideas all of the time that would be amazing - many of those will come about probably at some point. However, without some repeat and possibly stretching into completely different design elements and "looks" - I can't help but believe that those design meetings probably are not the easiest meetings to be in. Just my thoughts.
