My first post most likely picking up a no date sub tmro
Hello forum,
I have been looking for a watch now or a few weeks. I am considering the following: 1. No date sub 2. Explorer 1 , I have not tried the 36 yet. No AD has one to try 3. Date just oyster with Arabic #s in steel. I love tennis and noticed Federer talks about this one in his Rolex video and says he practices with it. The Archie luxury character has been very fun and entertaining during this short recent search for a watch. He reminds me of a friend in high school who was a great BSer. The kind a guy you knew was telling you a big fib, but you let him go cause his stories were so good. Also I saw a few Rolexes at the 47th street shop at the entrance of the diamond district here in Manhattan, but not sure if I will buy there. My personality is both sub and explorer at the same time. I don't want people at work thinking about my watch though. Only the managing partner and senior partner where subs. I like really like the sub but don't want to send out any wrong signals. Any advice, feedback or stories appreciated. I may pick it up tmro. Worked very hard last year and I deserve it. |

Also has anyone got a discount at the 5th Ave store? I'm thinking if getting it there as it seems like the most prestigious shop. I w
I'll also need the braclet adjusted as my wrist is 7inches. Never new that but just measured recently since I'm picking up watch |

I guess I'm kinda confused. If you got a Sub, what wrong signals would that send? If you like the Sub get the Sub. Rolex makes a zillion subs a year, not only two a lifetime.

Get the sub. I like the functionality of a date function for everyday, but in person I can appreciate the clean, crisp look of the sub no date. Forget what others think..get what YOU like ;)

I'm in the same position as you and I love both of the watches that you love.
Also I have been here two weeks learning. To be explorer one is timeless classic and subtle. It is probably my favorite of all the Rolexes. Having said that I may end up with a submariner as I divide my time between the office and the sea and I am interested in daily rugged Watch For The situation you describe my vote is explore one !

Get the sub.
The message it sends out will be that you are an intelligent man who likes to work hard and to play hard.

Just got it. Feels great. Brian fit it perfectly to my wrist. Will post a picture later. Right now back to the office to get some work in.
Had a nice bottle of the bubbly to commemorate the occasion with the staff there. Very classy group. I look forward to continuing to learn more about watches, but feel I made nice first choice. Thanks for making me feel welcome here. |
