The Final C6 Corvette is Born
The last of this breed came off the Bowling Green, KY production line on Thursday, Feb. 28th. Does the plant look empty? Amazingly, within 5 minutes of the frame being made they began dismantling the line to set-up and re-tool for the new C7!
The car, a 2013 Corvette 427 convertible with a 7.0-liter V8 built by chief engineer Tadge Juechter, is headed for preservation at General Motors' Heritage Collection in suburban Detroit. It was car No. 13,466 for the 2013 model year. Read more: http://www.autoweek.com/article/2013...#ixzz2MOf3wP17

I was at mecum auctions in Orlando in January and it was definitely the year of the vette. They had some of the rarest 50's - 70's down there. It was a beautiful thing to see.

These are great machines and always will hold a place in my heart. Back in high school a friend's brother had a 1967 convertible with a 427 Big block engine(with the L88 RPO Option=meaning no heater, air-conditioner or radio offered)and 4-Speed Manual Drive Trans and that baby could really move. In the early 80's my brother had a Sky Blue 25th Anniversary T-Top Vette that was sure a lot of fun to drive...glad I never got a ticket.......
And who could forget the 1963 Split-Window Corvette Stingrays!!! Take it easy.....Leo

Dennis, between 1967 and 1969 they made a total of 216 L88's with 20 being convertibles and the other 196 being hard tops.....it's been over 40 years since I've seen the friend and the car. I wonder if he did keep it or sell it along the way and you are correct when they come up for sale the asking price starts at over 200G's!!!
Btw...I like your car and I'm sure you enjoy getting behind the wheel.....makes driving a pleasure..... Take it easy.....Leo

When I was a little guy,(5 I think) it was just my momma and me.She went and bought a brand new '76 Stingray in BRG with dark green leather interior,T tops etc.I loved that car.On her way to work and my school,I would ask her to "make the tires go "Errrcchh!!!" she always would.I laugh thinking about it now,my 4'6 mom burning the tires off her car for fun..It was gone by the time I was 12...Ive been looking for the same car for her as a surprise.Still looking!

I thought Chevy should have used the 427 for the c7. That would have been good by me.

That 66 427 barn find is incredible ! I know a barn that has contained 2 1958 Dual quad Vettes for many years. Believe me when I tell you that they are not for sale.
My brother's 1964 365 hp 327 humiliated 427's on a regular basis. My 1977 Vette wouldn't pull a sick pi-- ant out of out bed, it was junk the day it came out of the factory, but it was what I could afford when I bought it many years ago and I love it. |

Testarossa or any other used Ferrari ---- get a million times more attention and performance ... the corvette just doesn't cut it for thAt price point... |

Love driving mine. Bought it new in 06 and modded it just the way I want. Has a S/C and some other goodies to bump bhp a little over 600. I plan on keeping it, that is, unless I fall for the C7. |

Attention I would agree with you that the Ferrari would get more looks . Me, I dont buy a car to get attention from others. And looks is purley subjective. http://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/c...estarossa.html |
