Rolex Submariner Story HD for IPad
Just a heads up for you guys, available on the UK app store (an eye watering £79.00, cheaper than the book I suppose) not sure if it's out in the US yet?
Anyone have this yet? Is it worth buying? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the big international success achieved with the edition "Rolex Submariner Story", big size Book and limited edition of only 500 examples, Guido Mondani Editore has decided to create "Rolex Submariner Story HD" for iPad. A true digital best-sellet with all Rolex Submariner, Submariner Date, Sea-Dweller and DeepSea models: a unique app to have these watches always with you, discovering the technical information and characteristics with a simple click. "Rolex Submariner Story HD", together with the other applications signed by Guido Mondani Editore, such as "100 Years of Rolex", "Rolex Estimates" and "Rolex Gallery", will allow you to collect and invest "on-the-go". This beautiful app allows to know all the dial variants (Comex, personalized, service replacement dials, etc) and shows a large quantity of details for each piece that is presented: the case number, the bracelet and its references, the winding crown, the case back, the dial, the caliber with the respective years of production and the various references upon which it could have been mounted. "Rolex Submariner Story HD " also specifies all the different marks and the corresponding serial numbers. The app allows to: - collect all your favorite references - enjoy more than 1500 high quality images - search your Submariner by reference of model The edition is multi-language English and Italian A true immersion in the world of the best diving watch: the ROLEX SUBMARINER |

It would be nice if you were looking at a Sub to be able to take out your phone and compare! I hope it comes out for the Droid.

Looks like it's available in the US App Store too. But I didn't buy it...a bit too expensive to justify.

I have the original I bought second hand. Rolex and even Omega books are ridiculously expensive. $120 for an app? No thanks

I bet they'd sell a lot of them if they brought the price way down. At $119 USD it's 2 or 3x the cost of a nice GPS app.

Yea that is high for an app. It is still much cheaper than a lot of good Rolex books. Depending on content it might be worth it. Any reviews?

Nope no reviews due to the price. Bet nobody has bought it.
Although poss unlikely due to Apples hot status.... however I doubt I would buy a book for that price in digital format. I have older iOS games that no longer work with my iPad due to upgrades in the iOS and the maker can't be arsed upgrading the app. Things like this you have to consider in the digital age!!! |

Im stupid enough to buy a copy (when I have £80 spare) not sure when though. I'll keep an eye on it I case I gets a price cut, the other Guido Mondani Editore apps are around half the price. That said the book itself ive seen for sale for £200 to £300 pounds. I know Guido is a member here so hopefully hell see this a cut the price, as it is rather high. I'd pay £40, no problermo.

First impressions.....submariner overload
I like it, its has lots of info, from mark 1 dials to changes on hands, but on the other hand it's not very detailed info, if I look at my own vintage 18k 1680/8 1970 model, although it mentions it, it does not really do into all the changes that occurred in the 9 years of manufacture, changes of bezel insert, changes on the dial, font, clasp, divers extension, crown, date wheel, but I guess to have that much detailed info on each watch would be almost impossible, and the book would have been 3 times as thick and the app 3 times as much, but I will come back in a few days and give you an update |
