Granpa's Rolex circa 1970s

So I haven't a got photo yet. But it's a plain looking Rolex. silver colour.

genuine of course. bought from a legit store. In REAL good condition.

1970s it was bought.

$500 was a offer from a pawn store. NOt trying to sell it. Just want to know
what it's worth.

Osyter it saids on the watch though I can't remember the exact spelling.

Q: What do a real genuine Rolex from 1970s worth in REAL good condition from varies?

*will be edited later for clarity

When you have some useful information or a decent picture, we will be happy to tell you about your watch..

It is likely worth much more than a Pawn Shop would offer but the sentimentality should be a driver for a family heirloom, not "how much is it worth"..

Flyson - if it is your Granpa's watch, hang on to it. Unless flipping it is going to do something wonderful, keep it if you can.

And please post pics.

Mon, is the rope twisted clockwise for the northern hemisphere or counter-clockwise the southern? That has more impact on value then length. Back in the old days there was plenty more northern hemisphere type so southern is worth more to collectors.

Ah, young grasshopper.... Using the information you can search to your hearts content for ebay, amazon, sales and all sort of other Internet places where such watches are offered...

Nobody here in their right mind will give you a valid price point without seeing the actual watch...

Just like nobody can give Mon the value of his rope based on a picture of a different one than the one he has..

We are not here to "price" your items.....we are here to help you understand what you might have inherited, and perhaps guide you with regards to how best to service your heirloom. As has been said, if it has any "personal" value, then it should not be sold unless you are in dire straits. Now that you know exactly what you have (based on your post linking us to a particular watch), you can easily do internet searches and see both what folks are asking for it, and what they are actually getting for it. In addition, there are companies which are well qualified, and for a fee, can "appraise" your watch for you. Coming here just for a value is simply not what we all are here for......we are enthusiasts and collectors who are happy to assist one in learning more about watches, more focused on "teaching one how to fish" rather than "giving you a fish"....and the basic and simply providing us with photos of the actual watch would have been the first step, in getting some help, were you really serious about such, in my opinion.

Good luck with whatever you end up doing..........

I've got everything I need. I'll research eBay for similar watches and I'll scour the web to provide a price for you. Just remember the TRF pledge:

That is clearly a Franken and is reversed to try to cash in on higher premium market pieces

The rope was over polished at some point. You can tell by the ends. But still has some nice patina. Worth about 7.50$ a foot.

The pawn shop business model- buy an item below actual value, resell item. The profit is the difference.
