Back - with a vintage 5513 (picture)
Hi
After a couple of years searching, I finally managed to get my hands on a Submariner from the year of my birth ... Just in time, to be able to give it to myself for my 30 year birthday, in less than two months. I have already started to wear it of course Regards Claus |

Congratulations!
Beautiful example in very nice condition! Nicely patinated dial, too! Did you get that one in Denmark? How about a wristshot??

Would the ref 5513 be the same for 1979 ? That is my birth date - I would love one from then..

Claus, Well done on a beautiful 5513. Welcome to the Vintage Sub Club. I am jealous. Not of your watch I have one, but I wish I was as young as you |

Beautiful Rolex, Claus. I can guarantee that when Mike sees it, he will probably drop some drool on the screen!

I had my local watchmaker open it up (non AD), and it was stunning inside...looked like new. It was a bit dry though, so we agreed, that he would service it, first thing in the new year. I would never dream of sending any of my watches to get serviced through the AD - I value them too much My watchmaker does as good a job as any ServiceCenter, and his first priority is keeping watches original |

That watch has so much power - great choice. Wish I could have afforded one when I hit the roaring thirties......

WooHoo!! Stunning example. nice evenly matched patina, fat lugs with sharp shoulders!! Nice score and very well done.
I can't really tell from the pic, is that a superdome? |

I wonder if I should look for a 1971 Explorer II since that's my birth year and the introduction year of the watch? That may be nice.

It means a lot to me you like it, since I consider you somewhat of an oracle when it comes to vintage Rolex. When you say it's good - it's good I have read MANY of your posts here, and I owe a lot og my vintage knowledge to you. So thanks again As for my 5513 - I was also very impressed when I saw it, but I didn't want to appear too impressed, since we hadn't settled for a price and such. But I held it together It's not a dome, it has a high, but (nearly) flat hesalite. I didn't know that superdomed were availible in late 70'ties? |
