Tudor & Omega thoughts...
So,I decided to NOT purchase that Tudor Hydronaut,at least for now.I like the watch, but it`s price is a bit too much for me at the time(more than 2000$).
But,than came a interessting offer:I went to some watch store in center and I saw Omega Speedmaster Chronograph Reduced. At first time I tought that it`s too small for my wrist(35.5mm,slightly smaller than Rolex Datejust),but when I tried it it looks good. And the point is that they give a special discount for that watch because nobody wanted to buy it in THREE years! So I will pay 1500$ for it!The only problem is it`s AWFUL yellow dial, but in sympathetic way(I like it in some odd way!). So,I`m asking you Omega guys(I think that even JJ have some experience with Omegas) to help me with it. Is it good watch, worth buying?Or should I go for that Hydronaut, even if it is overpriced? |

Vukota,
DON'T DO IT! Be patient, save a little longer, and go straight for the Rolex you want. No offence to Omega because they make great watches. JMHO. dP

I think you'll be happier with a Rolex or a Seamaster If you really like Omegas. I had that Speedmaster Reduced (with a black dial). It convinced me I didn't like watches with busy dials and I wasn't comfortable with the balance of it. You already said you don't like the yellow, I think you'd be better to wait.

Well, you are in the classic situation where a watch simply "smiles" back at ya.
That's a good sign, and I'd go for that Omega if I were you!

Damn,Bo!You totally understand my situation! It looks like it waited three years in that shop for me to take it,for more than a reasonable price. And I`m not sure if it`s better watch than Tudor Hydronaut, but I`m sure as hell that it`s more expensive(well, anywhere but in Serbia). And I just like it,reminds me of a Omega Professional...

Reading between the lines you want the Tudor.
I have Omegas & Tudors, both are nice watches but the Tudor Hydronaut would be my choice. Whatever you choose - enjoy wearing it.

From the way it sounds you really like the Omega, despite the fact the yellow dial is not your absolute favorite. Omega makes wonderful watches so I see no reason to hesitate and it looks like financially it will be a good deal as well.
There are times, of course, when you might be postponing your "real" desire (if this is the Tudor or Rolex, I am not sure) and if that is the case you might never be happy with the Omega. Even though I don't know you, it sounds to me like you want the Omega and I can't in that case think of a single reason not to move forward with it. There is no mistake here, just buy the one you really want and will be happy with. |

One piece of advice...do not get a nice watch just because of a discount. No rush. Better to wait and get a no compromise watch that you will love. Wait for the Rolex if there is a hint of desire in that direction. You will be happy that you did.

I think you'll have "buyer's remorse" if you spend $1500 on a watch that you don't "love". You have to start saving again for your Rolex...and you won't get much of your Omega purchase price back when you try to sell. Rolex or bust.....

I am a huge fan of Omega. Look at the Speedmaster Professional (Moon Watch). It is 40 or 41 mm. Stunning watch.

Make sure it is smiling nice and wide to you and not just pretty because of the good price deals will come and go... you will lose some $$$ if you decide to flip it again soon.
