How come everytime I want a watch really bad....it's discontinued?

Happens every time.

I'm literally craving for a D-serial GMT-II Root Beer in mint condition.
I had the chance to buy one a couple of years ago, but never took the plunge. I have to have one

Same thing with the Omega Seamaster Quartz which I wanted to buy as a daily beater. Sadly I had a slight "economic imbalance" in my life so I had to wait, now it's also discontinued...

Good thing I'm not that much into Breitlings, they change models so quickly that by the time one model would grow on me, it would be phased out for something new.

Has anyone else had the same feeling?

Why the hand wringing? There are Pre-loved ones for thousands less than you would have paid for a new one.

I kind of prefer things that grow old with me, instead of seeking out someone else's watch, so, in that sense, I like the new ones more.

That being said, a birth era Explorer II from the mid-70s would be something I could handle.

I am totally with you. I would love a GMT II either Root Beer or Pepsi which are both discontinued. I also love the Omega Railmaster 39mm or AT 2500 which would be my main dress watch. Neither are made any longer. The 8500 AT is just too thick for what I want it for.

Same thing happens to me with alot of things.

I often joke that if I like something it wont be long before it is gone.

I hate that feeling of being pressured bc of that. I remember before I ever owned a rolex I wanted a ss dj with a fluted bezel, white face romans... I remember I looked at it a lot before I purchased it. Then, all of the sudden I go in one day to check it out, and bam, the clasp is now hidden??? like a president bracelet??? I HATED it, looked so unbalanced to me. Well bought a dj with the new bracelet anyway and learned to love it. Now it is one of the things i love most about it! so go figure.

I can relate to what you're saying.

If only I could get whatever I want whenever I wanted it, life would be a lot simpler!

+100!! If you could go back in time, just a bit to pick those things up, oh man. I got lucky with my Sub being able to lay one away last year, the year it was discontinued, that's not usually my luck. I feel your pain.

Slightly different scenario here. Everytime I decide to buy a car or a Rolex, price goes up!

Same problem. I really want the old Explorer I, and I have my name on a list for any estate pieces with my AD. I don't know if I'll hear back.

Unless you're hell bent on owning specific discontinued models (I'm guilty to some degree) go with the new and improved models and enjoy them.

I know that feeling well

That is exactly what I just got last month after a 10+ year wait. Thrilled is all I can say....
