Which is more iconic, the Royal Oak or the Day-Date?

We all know all the praise Gerald Genta gets for his design of the Royal Oak (and rightly so). But is the Rolex Day-Date more iconic? I love both. What say you?

Both are really great watches . . .

The most iconic you ask on a Rolex forum . . .

For me, the Day-Date is more iconic. However, I vastly prefer the Royal Oak.

Indeed GG with his Audemars Piguet Royal Oak design,
the Patek Philippe Nautilus design, the Vacheron Constantin 222 Overseas...
and the IWC Ingenieur...is firmly and indisputably a true creator of horological design.
The above are great watches and I am proud to have owned all - at one time or another.

With that said...the Rolex day-date president is the most Iconic of the two.

no right answer - it depends on whom you ask. the DD is a rolex icon since the 50s and the RO is a design icon since the 70s.

Personally not a fan of the RO in all its forms just do not like the style of the watch, great movement but that's all for me.And the watch that's most like you put iconic is in that persons eyes that's wearing the particular watch.

"More" is a very subjective word, just like when someone searches for the "best".

To me they are both iconic. I do not care for the Daydate look at all so I would prefer the Royal Oak.

Not sure 'iconic' is even the right word for this discussion. That word brings to mind things like Elvis Presley or the Shelby Mustang, real cultural game changers.

That was my first thought.....but it's not even close. I am not knocking the Royal Oak by any means, b/c I would love to have one, but as far as watches...history...WIS and general public......how many Royal Oaks have you seen on people in the last 50 plus years?

Then think how many DD you have seen on people ...general public, famous people, presidents of countries around the world, movie stars, golfers...the list goes on.
