best way to ship to europe

hi,

what is the best way of shipping a rolex from the us to europe (holland)
how do you insure it

and how much would it approximatly be

I don't know much about shipping but it is an easy part. Customs is the difficult part from what i've heard

Yeah, that's true! Problem is that is you insure the item for the full amount, customs will bill you for the VAT of the country sent to, plus taxes.

You can avoid this by having the watch sent as a "gift" (or "repaired watch returned"), stating a lower value on the custom's label, but if the parcel is lost, you only get back what the value on the custom's label states.

I normally have items sent from the USA via USPS Registered Mail, fully insured, also because it IS illegal to state it is a "Gift" (etc.) if it in fact isn't a gift.

I 've heard stories from people where their watches disappeared as soon as the customs realised that it was a rolex.

I would probably go with a well insured Fed Ex, UPS or DHL. Make sure it's insured, be careful though, I once had an issue with FedEx damaging something and they wouldn't pay.
