What do you do with them? Do you shred them, send them back......?????

It's a good idea to opt out and to keep phishers, insurers and cc companies out of your business.

The opt out doesn't seem to work, as I keep getting these. So does The Rodentwoman. I scratch out the bar code on the back of the envelope and send the material that doesn't have my ID on it back to them along with photos from certain magazines. Sometimes a little talcum powder or smokeless powder to sweeten the deal.

Let them come after me. Make my day.

Not sure how serious you are about this process and getting it stopped but I can tell you from experience that it can be done with a little work. It takes some diligence but you can get off of these lists. Opting out alone won't do it, but if you send a cease and desist letter to the CC's marketing executive offices you will get swift action.

The good part about opting out is it's much harder for people to easily get your personal information.

Let me know how that works for you after the Postal Inspectors finish with you

But a more effective method is to lock access to your credit report. Without access to that info they have no way to target you.

Each of the 3 bureaus offer it: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion

Not sure if you are talking about their pay for service program "Equifax Credit Report Control" and similar services from the other CRA's, but it is possible to accomplish the same blocking for free.

There is no charge to block access. Not recommending any paid services...

Shred, shred, shred. The offers are bad but the damn balance transfer checks are driving me nuts. I've tried to opt out but they apparently like killing trees.

I think it's Crapital One that sends out more of these per year than there are people in the USA. And they're based in SD because they have no usury laws. I'd like to see the training for the mail room people. They probably have a special session to deal with the stuff I send them.

I surely won't win the Nobel Prize for Maturity but I'm trying to either.
