Will it fall off?

Quick question here. My mother's Lady DJ has a very very loose bracelet. I'm convinced it's going to just fall off one day- see for yourself in the pics.

Her point is that a new bracelet costs £1000 and she's thinking of getting something easier to read with an oyster bracelet like a white milgauss or an air king and keeping this for dressier occasions so she may as well just not replace it.

My point is that it's going to fall off, so she needs to either get the other watch and stop wearing this one on a daily basis or replace the bracelet- there's no point waiting for it to fall off and then having to replace the entire watch!

What do you think? Is going to fall off?

^The pin [?] between the clasp and bracelet seems totally bent and ready to go- this seems to be the weakest point.

^Whole thing seems ready to fall apart

^When I see this I get the feeling that it's in dire need of replacement.

^Lastly a shot of my daytona on this great sunny day we're having here in London.

All photos taken on iPhone.

Thanks

Safer to keep it in your pocket on the way to the service center.

Better replace that bracelet fast or she's liable to lose the whole watch.

If a jubillee bracelet is too expensive then a leather strap should be good, at least it's not liable to break.

I would send it to Michael Young, and nobody else. Find him up, cheapest also best. Rolex will "rob you".

That's a beautiful bracelet, it just needs new pins throughout. This is what Michael Young does.

That puppy is ready to go, as others have posted Michael Young might be a good way for her to get it repaired. Good luck.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I've shown her this thread and she agrees that it needs to be changed and Michael Young seems to be the go to guy for this sort of thing so will be pursuing that route.

In answer to CLK1213, Watch is probably about 15 years old and is worn horribly loose, all the time.

(seriously, it's worn like a loose bracelet as opposed to a watch)

Sorry for the OT...

But what would create a bigger wear or stretch to the bracelet.. If worn loose... Or tight?!?

I'm no expert but I'd guess that if it's tight, it's snug, but if it's really really tight, then yes you'll have stretch issues but also bloody supply issues.

However when very loose, the watch tends to slip up and down, and hang off the bracelet and swing around which over time puts much more strain on the bracelet then simply being in one place with all links bearing an equal load.

The watchmaker here admonished me for wearing my bracelet too loose. He said it definitely would stretch more that way. I've already got 2 bracelets in to MY, and would rather not add a third :-)

I'd go the Michael Young route too.
It's a shame there isn't anyone here in the UK
Who can do that.
I'm sure there probably is but I've not heard of any.

Good luck!
