16610lv dial not perfectly flat?

Hi All,

I've just noticed that the dial on my 16610lv is not perfectly flat, rather, it seems to taper towards the centre where the hands are connected. The tapering begins only a few millimeters from where the hand connect.

You can only really notice the tapering in certain light - but it's something I didn't expect.

Has anyone else noticed this on their watch? or is it just me?

No, it's not just you..

Many dials are dimpled (tapered) at the pierced hole.. It is a common method to strengthen and stabilize sheet metal in such instances..

Hope the moderators don't mind me bringing up an old thread...

Can anyone explain what the 'tapering' in the centre of the dial means, or perhaps even post a picture as an example?

Is it where the dial dimples inwards where the hole for the hands are?

Sorry if it's obvious.

Well I believe your question was already answered by my colleague in post 2 and yes its where the hands staff shaft is in the center of most dials.

Maybe the back side of the dial helps.

Yes I saw your colleagues post, thanks. You will also notice I apologised in advance for asking...

I asked the question because I wanted to know if it was the same thing I'm looking at. Personally I wouldn't have referred to it as tapering, in fact I don't know what I would call it.

The centre of the dial at the hole seems to kink inwards, and I wanted to see if it was the same thing as mentioned here on this thread?
