Rolex Sub in a british Film
A film called "the Silent Enemy" featuring actor Laurence Harvey is the story of a naval officer clearing ships of mines laid by the italians in Gibralter during WW2. I watched the film and managed to get a screen clip of the watch he was wearing. Keeping in mind the timeframe of the movie is set in 1941-42.
What do you think.

I think it is an anachronism to show a Sub in a movie that takes place in the early 1940ies!

wonder if it was the actors personal watch, or why they used a Rolex then. The Italian Divers appeared to have early Pans

LOL I guess the editor of the movie really missed that one then. Perhaps the main character's actor just wanted to emulate bond, since bond did wear the Rolex at this time. Not the timeframe of the movie, but the year the movie was made.

These errors are common in movies and tv shows. They happen more often than you would think. In some cases, they just don't think it's important, since only a fraction of the population would catch it.

LOL! I recall a scene in the television show "Combat" set during WW II where Vic Morrow is seen wearing a GMT-MASTER.

Well, it just shows that Rolex watches are timeless, doesn't it?

I once saw a movie (1950's Hollywood production) about Knights set in what was supposed to be 12th century England. One of the extras in the marquee was wearing a wrist watch!
Another 'mistake' in a British TV film. The setting was late 18th century with street scenes of people in long clothes and horses and carriages etc. One of the roofs had a TV aerial. Steve |

My old man's favorite tv show! It aired on some weird cable channel that I got, so I'd tape it for him. Then I'd have to watch it with him when I visited.
