Early Rolex
Can someone please post pictures of early Rolex, or from the
40's / 50's. The only place that I have seen them was on a display window on Madison Avenue in NYC. Those had a square dial, if I remember correctly in gold. Thanks

I just got this one from a relative, late 50's I think. I need to get it serviced. The dial is really nice but the watch and crystal are pretty scratched up.

1922 Rolex Unicorn my cheapest watch found at a boot sale for £5, but one of my favourites. Rolex Unicorn from 1922 silver case. movement scan. Rolex Unicorn scan from 1924 S.steel quite a new metal then and was more expensive than the silver version. Rolex from 1924 same case as the Unicorn but 17 jewel movement.

The red depth marking has only been on the very first year of 6610 in 1955...
But EUR 18000.- must have been complete with everything AND red lettering. The prices for a naked and rocked one like mine is around 4,5 - 7,5 k. Bye Marko |

All we have in old Rolex are these two beaters. My 1940 British military pocket watch and Nancy's 1960ish cocktail watch.

But if you have a military, the dial has been changed. There are two versions, the A version was black dialed with the military serial on the dial, case (6 o'clock) and the back, and the B version omitting the numbering on the dial which always was white and this version never had a "handle" because these watches were vehicle (car / boat) mounted in a wooden box. Left the A version, right the B version and in the middle a present to the Admirality. Bye Marko |

WOW, fantastic pieces. Thank you for sharing.
Back in the early 90's some co-workers found some old Rolex in Vietnam at really good prices. I wish I was there.
