Basel 2013 , Rolex unannounced model ...
.
The new Rolex website shows a new unannouced model, in the YachtMaster lineup ... If you want to see YM TT 16623, here's what you get. Parachrom, Chromalight (on the French version web site), Easylink ... it looks like the TT version of 116622 , more than TT version of 16622. Even the picture is from a new model (look at the SEL ...). I wouldn't be surprised to read 116623 between the lugs ... |

I wonder why the TT YM's don't have a gold winding crown.

The 18kt Gold & SS - Steel Dial - 16623 has been around for a while. Sells for $8K-ish USD pre-owned all around the net. If it's the movement spec you noticed - I think that's more of a 3135 spec that is now standard, right?

Maybe it's a standard spec now, but it's still unspecified for most models. Anyway it's not the most important point I point out in my initial post : . Chromalight . Easylink . SEL shape And the picture itself. |

Yes that means the 78763 TT bracelet now has the Easylink and shorter SEL like the 78800 SS had.

A modified 78763 wouldn't be named 78763 . My guess is it's a new 78803 bracelet. And the Chromalight isn't part of the bracelet. So I think it's not a simple modified 16623, but a new 116623 model instead. |

I don't like TT except for the root beer but I do like the look of this.
I'm not sure whether it needed a gold winding crown, though, and I'd brush the gold centre links to tie in better with the bezel. Good effort, though. A rare modern Rolex that I quite like!

Outfitted as you said with updated dial and other parts it very well may be a typo on the new website and should perhaps say 116623.

As a TT guy, there is something about the Rhodium version of the YM that far outshines this new offering.
Glad to see it is now an option. Quite good looking ! |

I'll double check at Basel to see if this is right, but I have a feeling it's a bad copy and paste job....

Old model was shown at Basel. As I thought, it was a bad copy and paste job

Does 16623 (steel dial) have the same new features (parachrom, chromalite, new clasp) as the new 116622?
Thanks |

Thanks Chris!
Please let me know if there are any other updates on this. Really don't know which one to get. Which one would you recommend? Thanks Borns |

Usually any notable change carries a change in model number as well. My feeling is that the bi-metal Yacht-Master is on its way out - the 18ct model was dropped, I expect they're just running down their remaining supplies. The Rolesium YM will be the only model left, with YM II taking on the full variety of metal combinations As for which one to recommend, I wasn't overly impressed with the 116622. I thought it was a lot of money for a very minor update (a different clasp and marginally revised bezel). I didn't think the blue dial worked on it (although I am in the minority here), I think the best YM look is still with the Platinum dial. I would get a 16622 or 16623, they've been around for a good while and you can pick up a good deal on one Chris |
