Beware of Milsub offered on the bay

Although I am already pretty sure again that there will not be many comments on this one for various reasons, this is what this forum is really about, make people beware of those watches where it is really hard to differentiate between real or fake and where a lot of money is in question. Not the usual 10$ fakes and all the diamonds bling bling shit no serious person would ever consider buying.

So here it is:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Milita...-/140963400963

5517 case without engraving on the lug, with wrong bezel insert, no serial on inside of caseback (which is a 5513), too clean looking dial and hands. As far as I know the 5517 had also the 1570 movement as opposed to the 1520 movements in the 5513 milsubs. So all in all, a lot of inconsistencies.

If you had a real 5517 Milsub, would you sell it on the bay?

5517 milsub

the 5517 indeed had the same movement of 5513 ( 1520 ) but the watch nevertheless has
other " problems " ....

It's been to Rolex, it has a few replacement parts. Devalued for the collector but not a total fake. IMHO

Im not buying that dial and hands. I seem to remember a replacement 5517 case going around a few years ago on vrf. Possible this is some transplant. Even if it did go to rolex it could have gone with real hands and dial and been switched to these questionables later just to get papers.

You are perfectly right!
I would add to your list the wrong bezel and dial.

If its a 5513 case it should have 5517 engraved on one lug!
5517 dont have that what i seen, 5517 and 5513 has caliber 1520 movements.
This one has wrong bezel insert. But the seller says that it has been replaced.

I like the patina on the dial! it looks gen to me. aim not a milsub expert but i have been studying them for a long time.

Oh your right I missed that on a iPhone size screen, other parts are incorrect as earlier stated probably at Rolex service although that rolex paper when I look at it more deeply now I have time does not really indicate anywhere it is connected to that particular watch, no serial or model on it ?

This is the real deal. (above) The case back in question (below) looks nothing like this. IMO.

Ebay 5517.

I think that dial looks questionable... the patina makes me nervous... looks like it could have been painted on that color..
