Not for everyone but I love it.... Brushed datjust ii
So I know that most here would never do this but I think all would like to check it out. I just got a bnib datejust ii from davidsw (btw, as most of you know he is a top notch A+++ seller)
After a long debate with myself and flipping four watches, the datejust ii with the smooth bezel is my perfect watch that fits all my wants and needs. The only problem was I don't really care for pcl's, so today I went to my local ad and had them scuff up my brand new watch. I find it to be a great mix of sport and dress and I couldn't be happier. Here are the pics, enjoytel:3711048893. |

Why not... looks like styling from an old DJ.

Can you post some closer pics of the lugs? I am curious to see how the AD was able to make the transition from brushed on top to polished on the sides.
On the old DJ, there was a nice right angle there, but the lugs on the DJII are more rounded. Either way, the watch looks great...very unique.

Good for you! Not only does it make it yours, but it takes a classy, understated, rugged, reliable timepiece to another dimension.

Congrats, its a very good looking watch and I like your choice on the brush finish. You are absolutely right that it sits right between dress and sporty - a good "hybrid" :-)
Enjoy in good health! |

Well done! Looks great. I, too, would like to see how the lugs were done.

I think it looks good. To me, the bezel is more noticable, because it's the only polished surface you can see (besides the sides). Now I'm wondering how it would look w/ the bezel brushed as well.

Makes the DJII look a bit like Omega's Aqua Terra. But I like it, good move

And I thought about doing the same with my Datejust 116200. But maybe in five years when I get it serviced |

Here are a couple pics of the lugs, sorry there not the best but just have my iPad to take pics with. I also wondered how the bezel would look brushed. I might try it at some point but am unsure. I was going for a similar finish to the explorer 1 and that has the polished bezel and seems to work. Thanks for all the kind words

Gives it a nice, vintage feel. I think if it was me I first would have tried the brushed bracelet only and lived with it for a while before moving onto the lugs. But it's very interesting I have to say.

I like it. Rolex makes so many watches, you think they'd be able to offer it in both versions. They should have done it with the Milgauss..

I like it. I will consider doing that to the new Blue GMT2 PCL if I get one.

I don't like mods on watches, they are perfect from factory.. However, if you love it.. Thats AWESOME!!

I prefer the PCLs on this watch, but good for you if you've achieved your desired result
