Finally: Vintage Shop in Shanghai, Address Enclosed
Good afternoon,
After months and months browsing through useless heaps of cheap and fake merchandise in this city, I have finally found a reputable lady dealer. She has a nice line up of classic Chinese Army watches, Rolex Bubblebacks, earlier Rolex models, Some Omega, Patek, etc. Husband is a watchmaker and runs a second shop in the same place, mostly focusing on "upper crust" Chinese watches from the 50s and 60s, plus quite a few Vintage Seiko, Omega, Heuer and the like. I have bought a Chinese Army watch I was looking for since a long time ago, and I'm posting a couple of separate threads asking for info on other 2 watches I fancy. In this city of countless fake watches, this seemed like a welcome haven. PM if you need assitance with finding the store, but it's in the Yu Yuan Garden area of town. Don't be put off by Yu Yuan being one of the most touristy spots in the city, there are also a few reputable antique dealers. Yu Yuan is a 10 minutes taxi trip from the Bund. A safe way of getting there is hoppin in a cab, calling the lady (she speaks decent English, her phone is in the enclosed name card) and passing your mobile to the cabbie for directions. In case this helps. Enjoy your day. |
