What is a WIS?

I know it's a crazy question, but I don't know what one is. I'm always seeing it and I'm usually like WTF? I have heard JJ's explanation once and it was wanker in slumberland. I'll take it that that's not what it means.

Thanks, Tyler

Hey Tyler, how are things, ya WIS. Not wuss like you'd call your buddies in school Actually WIS is an acronym for Watch Idiot Savant. Like rainman (if a hijack doesn't happen here it never will) Don't worry young friend even though I am one I didn't know what it was six months ago. I found out by asking. Have a good one. Here's a pic of mine for you.

Isn't a WIS a person who obsesses about watches, buys many of them (some sell as many) and basically is a nice way to call a person a watch nerd? I seem to fit said description.

Tyler,

After listening to all that BS, don't you think my explanation made more sense?

Yes, Daren certainly has a way with words. Now if he could only learn to use them properly.

Tyler, questions you DON'T ask are crazy or dumb. This is the best thing you can do: just ask The "wise idiot" is actually a fitting name for this bunch of, errr, nice people with an extraordinary keen interest in watches and having a good time. I prefer watchgeek

Kim Peek was the person after whom the movie Rain Man was made. Able to memorize the complete NYC telephone directory but unable to find his way home from 2 blocks away.

I can't find home if I'm home Ask Anne, I'm terrible at this. Outside my own city I'm lost. If I go into a shop and come out again, I'm lost

Maybe you need to buy a Rolex Explorer...

And when you figure out how to get home, you can progress to an Explorer II.

Tyler, below you will find two typical examples of WIS. Beware my young friend. Find another interest before it's too late

Frans I have a confession to make. The first time Brenda and I visited Holland we hired a car from the airport. Driving to Amsterdam we checked the road signs and noted they said Outgang. I asked Brenda to check the map for this place and she could not find it. The next sign said Outgang again and she still could not find it on the map. It wasn't till a couple of days later I was leaving a toilet and on the way out there was a sign saying Outgang. We still laugh about it today.

Another thing about Amsterdam was we drove from the hotel to the city centre every night but when it was time to go home we could never find the way back to the hotel. We kept ending up at the gates of the Amstel brewery after a trip through the red light district. I was about to stop a taxi and pay him to lead us home but in the end we managed it.
