Daytona Zenith or An in-house movement ?

Looking for opinions please: I have the opportunity to get a used white dial Daytona 16520 Zenith El Primero movement OR a brand new white dial daytona SS 116520 with an in-house movement ... What do you think guys ? .. please note that the ones that i have are both black dials.

Thanks in Advance!

Really depends on price, condition, and which one YOU like the best, for the price. They both have their following, and if bought right, both will have good resale potential.....

Good luck with whichever one you choose......wear it in the best of health!

If the Zenith is in good condition with all the papers/box etc, it would be the one to go for. You already have two with the inhouse movement, and the Zenith one will never be made again.

So, if it was me and given your current collection, I would go for the Zenith if it is in good shape as noted.

Myself not a huge fan of the modern Daytona but given the choice I would go for the Zenith mainly because I prefer that dial lay out. While both movements are very accurate the in-house has the advantage on the larger power reserve. So I would say value wise if that's important to you, future wise then IMHO the Zenith should still hold a slight premium over the in-house.

Since you already have a 4130 I would go Zenith. Plus I prefer the layout of the Zenith.

There is no question that the modern 4130 is the better movement.. Designed from the ground up to meet modern tolerances, engineering, and assembly methods.. On a new one you get a modern solid link bracelet and modern billet clasp.. It is simply a killer watch..

On the other hand, the Zenith is a beauty with nice contrasting sub-dials and hands.. As can be seen from responses, this one has an almost cult-like following..

Tough choice..

The Zenith doesn't hack, correct? I'd lean towards the Zenith too, but non-hacking is a bit of an annoyance.

With the black dial, go for the latest. White dial, the black sub-dials are much better looking than the current silver ones. Regardless, you can't go wrong

That is correct. But with a little back pressure you can set it right on.

For me it isn't so much the movement but the dial. I far prefer the dials on the 16520's. Too bad they changed the dial as the white and black look much better to me--makes the sub dials pop much more! To each his own I guess.

Agreed ! Black dial, go with the new . White dial, go with Zenith (has to be good condition with all the papers and serviced record).

P.s for me newer is better and in-house please!

I concur, its the dial that you will be looking at everyday, not the movement
