Vintage ladies DJ 6903 question

I am thinking about buying this vintage DJ for my wife. I really like the solid gold reference, and found a nice example in the sales forum. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=292488
however upon research, i really can't find much info on the 6903 reference. Is this a 26mm solid gold DJ? any issues or things that I need to watch out for? Thanks for any input.

6903 looks like this. Note bezel and old style band with same finish as the bezel. Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1368857714.985318.jpg

It's Franken now unless you can find the bezel and band or just put it on a strap, however you need at least the bezel to make it right.

Wow... crown collection, this is very helpful. I was thinking to just put this on a leather strap. I think it would be very hard to source a bezel like the original, but I do not mind what the seller currently has put on the watch, which is a flute bezel.

1500 in it's current state, hard to resell to a collector as it's franken, why not buy a regular 6917 which looks the same and is correct for the same price ? f you decide to sell no hassles later. 6917 gold is the same price range 1500-2000 and has the fluted bezel you like. just my thoughts

$1500 is tops - even at 18k with the current gold market value and being a date watch, it is still only worth about $1,000 - $1500 and if I were going to pay $1,500 it would have to be serviced by a reputable watchmaster because if not, you can add about $300 to have it serviced. If you can find a NOS Rolex watchband (leather) to fit it, that would be a nice find. I have found some for my vintage watches. However, for a few hundred dollars more you can find a good oyster date ss and gold with all original parts, in very good condition.

But that's a two tone, not solid gold.

I do agree that $1900 is WAY too much for this watch. Even at $1500 I would not be interested. This watch should not bring more than $1200.
