Is there such thing as a 16200 with an engine turned bezel?

Hi all,
My father has just bought a beautiful datejust from a very respected second hand dealer. The watch looks spotless but i have one concern. He told me that they checked the numbers on the paperwork (origibally sold in dc) and on the watch but without tools i cannot doublecheck it.
As far as i know 16200 refers to smooth bezel and an engine turned should be 16220.....
Is there any exception? Should we worry? If there is a slight doubt he can return the watch..... I'll post pictures later.
Thanks.

Agree the 16220 is the one with engine turned bezel, and 16200 is smooth.

Rolex didn't swap bezels around but a prior owner may have.

Yeah the 16220 has the ETB with the tight fluting as opposed to the "13" ETB

.

Following Rolex rules, you can decompose a reference "16200" like that :

162 : DateJust 36mm (140 for AK , 152 for OP, 182 for Daydate , ...)
0 : polished bezel (1 for finely engine-turned , 2 for engine-turned , 3 for fluted , ...)
0 : Stainless steel (3 for TT YG , 4 for TT WG , 8 for YG , 9 for WG ...)

Regarding yours, bezel have been replaced at some point during the life of tis watch.

I will definitely doublecheck the serial no but is there a way to find out whether the bezel is original or aftermarket? Is there a way to check what the watch was like when manufactured?

That's what we're saying. If the watch matches the paperwork, then the bezel was added later.

By original i mean rolex and not something fake. If it is original than it is fine.

I doubt it's a fake bezel. Looks okay to me.

so we double checked it at the official service centre. the watch is legit, the paperwork is fine. they said that the bezel was original as well and probably put on as a special request when the watch was first purchased.
it was a rather good buy i reckon.

Hi there, the picture doesn't look like an engine turned bezel. I have an AK with an engine-turned bezel. See pic.Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1369670913.320960.jpg

I apologize. I believe that may also be an engine-turned bezel.

"finely engine-turned" vs "engine-turned"

Speedo, I will trade you the original bezel for that watch in exchange for the engine-turned bezel.
