It's a decent looking PAM for sure, but I'm not totally convinced with OP's composite material... ceramic-covered aluminum...
...that and the fact that I'm not big on any PAM with the "Black Seal" line, simply because there's no connection with Panerai's history... .

I like it but not sure whether PAM resolved its issues.

Nice watch but ehh. Just my opinion. Too many other options worth looking at.

What you just saw is almost certainly a ceramic case, not composite...

I'm not sure, I never liked Panerai's ceramic/composite/pvd cases. Maybe it's just me.

i'm not sold on OP's comoposite material, plus, i'm not a huge fan of the brown color. but, that's just personal preference. there's a lot to like with that watch.
Quote:
i don't think the "history" argument holds much water. a GMT or date function or a power reserve indicator has no connection to panerai's history, either....going further, one could also argue any case materials other than stainless steel are out, as are chronos and in-house movements..... |

I had one, loved it. The brown case looks black 95% of the time. It was very comfortable due to being so light and never picked up a mark of any kind. I only let it go because I found strap changes a pain. Went for a 352.

I own one, and it's actually my only PAM, and I love it.
It doesn't seem to get much love, but also no one also hates it. Just an average kid that no one notices. It's such a dark brown, that it practically looks like a soft black. But it's not a harsh, in-your-face black. I have a black PVD watch, and every time I put it on, it seems so harsh compared to the 505. |

I own one and absolutely love it! It has all the Panerai qualities to it. The original leather strap is so matching. I actually flipped my 104 for it. As for the coloration issue, only time will tell.

Here's some text I wouldn't mind seeing on my composite... c/o Paneristi J.Pulli Seeing as the 352 is Ti and both have roughly the same height (P.9000), which one was lighter (assuming you've worn your 352 on a strap)? I personally like to feel the presence of my watches on my wrist. I tried a 176 (Ti) and found it was fine, but I wouldn't want to go much lighter...

"loathe" is a pretty strong word. just pointing out that the "history" argument is a slippery slope and some people tend to use it rather arbitrarily. i think that one can EASILY argue (with merit ) that a GMT function or power reserve on the dial has nothing to do with panerai's history, and is thus not "true Panerai DNA (TM)". same with the "black seal" model designation. and i think that there are paneristis that think both of those things (mainly, those that say a base PAM is the only "legitimate" PAM). do i believe that? no. (as you said, i've made that pretty clear around here. ). but, i do believe that there are probably "better" reasons for not liking the "black seal" text. |

Some people...? Obviously you are talking about me here because you quoted me, Mr. Jones. Better reasons...? Such as? On second thought and to paraphrase Rhett Butler, frankly [Cru], I don't give a damn.

I would love a 504 in 45mm size with ceramic case
sorry, but the composite material is a fail. aluminum is a very soft metal. to me the case is like an M&M with a candy coated shell lol theres a 505 for sale with some hairline scratches showing the bare aluminum underneath.. enough said |

After looking at the pics of the one 505 in the For Sale forum, i suspect that the two hairlines are not scratches at all. I have a 505 and after wearing for a couple of weeks, I too noticed a couple of really fine metallic lines on the case side. I experimented and manage to remove them with Faber Castell 7016-40 erasor! Those were metallic lines left by whatever metal the case contacted with. They were not scratches. Now the side of my 505 looks like new under lubes. The ones on the screw heads are probably craches though, as the screws are just PVD colored screws and they do scratch. My $0.02.

I don't think this would be a everyday watch. But the look is really what I am looking for. I am going to look at a 292 today next to the 505. There seems to be a lot of 505 on the for sale area. That is crazy my local AD only got one and said that is all he will be getting this year.
