The Watch Snob is more of a Watch Douche. He just hates Panerai.

Panerai was the first company to make watches bigger .. Now all the watches are bigger ... A true leader in the industry IMO tHey have changed the face of the watch. He is just a writer who thinks he is cool when saying "oh look at me, lange is cool, patek is cool" .... Year right ... I guess he owns neither ... End of teh day, he is only one person and entiteled to his opinion ....

I happen to share some of his opinions about Panerai. A short person wearing a thick Panerai with a thick strap on their wrist looks very comical to me. I see those guys on the street every day and it brings smile to my face.
The larger Panerai look great if you can pull it off with your height or large wrists but for some reason its the small guys who tend to wear the biggest watches. That being said read Snob's bit on the new 42mm Radiomir. Normal size and beautiful, classic Panerai design. I am all for that. |

I agree. But for the Watch Douche to make a comparison between the two, is just completely incredible.
Comparing a Lange to a Panerai... Just makes me

I used to visit his weekly blog and just got tired of the same nonsense. His opinion is just terrible of most brands. Never got the disdain he has for Panerai

I must admit I find the Watch Snob rather boring, whatever the purpose of his articles is. Whether he is honest and simply very close-minded/shallow or a troll I just don't find his articles very funny (with the exception of a very few sentences here and there that may have made me laugh), I am by no means insulted by what he writes but he keeps repeating the same things...
Still, I think you did well by finding the article funny, it's better to laugh at it and buy/enjoy whatever you like than trying to find any life lesson in what he writes.

I love the Watch Snob. To me - he's quite entertaining.
He surely didn't stop me from enjoying my 111 over the weekend on a nice Mario Paci strap. |

I also stumbled across this article awhile ago. I thought it was ridiculous, but to each their own. I hope non-wis don't think this guy is someone to listen to, though.

The point of articles like that has been illustrated by this thread: get people talking about watch snob.
I saw the article and paid it no mind. As a total no one in journalism, he's taking a stance that's contrary to most in an effort to get noticed. There are countless articles about how nice these watches are. If this Bag wants to get an audience he has to say inflammatory things. His tone reminds me of a Stauer ad in an airline magazine.

It is just another writer creating controversy for attention...if you read the articles he basically says only tacky people wear panerai...that is just one jackass' opinion and so who cares...further he talks about it in the sense it is a fashion watch bu the funny part is when you go to the askmen site where "he" writes you find him under the fashion tab...
Wear what you like who cares what anyone else thinks...except us of course ha ha |

PANERAI... not for a girlyman
Hey, "Watch Douche"... are your wrists too puny, or limp to handle the manly massiveness of a Panerai??? Well there's hope... they do make Rolex Ladies watches for pantywaists like you.

Two things:
1. He's basically trolling to get a rise out of people. It can be entertaining at times but otherwise wouldn't put much stock in anything he says. 2. He MAY also have a point that Panerai (in addition to being appreciated by WIS's) appears to currently be the watch de jour and I myself have noticed the uptake of Panerais by every wannabe fashionista and their friends even if they don't know an escapement from a bar of soap. |
