serial # tag missing
I recently purchased a sub-c from an AD and after a month i reopened the box to notice that the serial #/price tag was missing. I called up the AD and spoke to the manager who stated that they keep the tags for their stockroom for reordering purposes and the customer does not get them. Is this normal pratice? I have tags from my prior non-rolex purchases. Is this something to get upset over?

There was a recent thread on this I believe. I think the consensus was that yes, this does happen sometimes. People have demanded the tag though with success. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, that is quite normal.. that tag is specifically for inventory..
I suppose that if you feel that you have the need for a plastic tag with barcode, you can go down there and discuss it with them....

My hangtag was with my watch but the barcode sticker had been removed from the backside.

Perhaps not important but if you want it then you should have it. Especially when purchasing a new $8000 plus item.
It has already been discussed to death how it is important for reselling (agree or disagree really doesn't matter as the opinion on the topic is split and will remain that way - there is no correct absolute answer). However, it is a deal breaker for some. Ask for it.

Agreed. Didn't realize it's importance or necessity when purchasing. Bought a 39mm Explorer I from an AD in USVI. Of course got Box, chronometer tag, warranty card, etc. Should've done my research in what to ask for. This forum is great for a new Rolex owner/fan. Thanks again!

I have had AD's keep tag and for me could care less and place ZERO value in it! As long as watch has warranty card, boxes, booklets you are fine IMHO. Enjoy you watch....Cheers,

I would gently request it. Why not?

The experts will tell you that your watch is worth about $500 less without that tag when it comes to resale value...

The tag has no effect on the value as long as you have the warranty card that matches your watch you are good.
