Daily driver 6534
I picked up this 14 karat 6534 a couple of years ago in quite pathetic condition. It's a 1956 model 44X,XXX serial #)
The previous owner had installed a gold nugget bracelet as a band, and decided that it would be stylish to put a nugget design on the lugs as well. The crystal was so faded and scratched, the dial was impossible to see, and the dial itself was water spotted and scratched beyond belief. I purchased the watch for just the value of the gold, and proceeded to make it wearable. I repaired the lugs using my laser welder, replaced the handmade diamond bezel which was the obvious source of the moisture problems, put on a new plexi, and had the dial refinished in black with diamond markers. I realize it's a true "frankenwatch", but it's an enjoyable daily wear watch. The movement needed only normal servicing, I'm still not sure how it escaped severe water damage. |
