1980's datejust purchace

I purchased a roles datejust, gold/ss, and am wondering its authenticity. I did check the numbers on case, they check, band numbers check out, its been buffed and cleaned so it looks new, but just not sure. it feels light, but i am use to wearing a daytona.

outside of cracking the back, any other checks?

When you say "purchased" that would imply rather strongly that you have already given the money for this item and done the deal. Could I ask why you would have done so if you had any doubt about the authenticity of the watch?

It seems to me that the authentication should have been done well PRIOR to the purchase of a high ticket item such as this if there is any doubt about the seller of said item!

it is simple to authenticate any rolex: take it to an authorized dealer. They will pull the movement and let you know. OR, any reputable watchmaker who regularly deals in
rolex. But I agree with Lee: why would you not have performed the authentication prior to the sale if you had any doubts.......
