What do you think of this Tudor 7016/0?
What are your thoughts on this Tudor. Guy says he bought it in 1975 used and never had it serviced. Will offer no guarantee that it is real. Looks legit to me but scared of no guarantee. Second hand different than the lollipop type found on most rose dial 7016/0 that I have seen. . Also the short end of the second hand does not look right to me. Most I have seen are perfectly round on the short end. This one seems more tear dropped.

Nice as found project watch. I would 1 st establish what a crisp one with a band sells for. IMHO $3000-3800.($4300-5000) will get you the real McCoy 5513. And then figure out what it will cost you to get this 1 in that condition. For starters a bezel pearl, service, bracelet & second hand is what I see.

Hi,
There's been some debate in these pages concerning rose dials or shield dials in 7016s. Consensus is only a few very early 7016s would get rose dials. Can you please share with us the first three digits of the serial? What bracelet is the watch on? I see no end links in the case back picture, and I cannot see any end link wear on the lugs either. Strange. Has the watch been too long on a non-oyster bracelet? In the third picture, lug tips look very rounded. That's unusual. Crown guards have been unevenly polished as you can see in the crown picture. Bottom one is substantially thinner. Unless credible answers to above questions, and a to-die-for price, I'd pass. Much better examples out there. |

Would need to see more pictures to make a determination.
Rose dial 7016's have a very unique case compared to others. Only offered in either I.68 or II.68 with a 7528 caseback stamp. When looking at a crown shot, the one guard will be slightly thinner though not that thin IMO. Side shot of guards should look like the middle case. Lugs are blunter though those look really blunt. Withe the photos provided I personally wouldn't pay more then 1500 due to the issues and the seconds hands are almost unobtanium. If I did I would probably part out the watch.

Dial looks relumed? Wrong seconds, great insert, crown guards look funky, no?
I'd want to dance with some far better pics. Price he is asking is too high by 40%

He has the serial number listed as 737806. Said he bought the watch in 1975 used and has never had it opened so he does not know for sure if it is genuine. Said if I bought it and found it to be fake that it would be on me. I told him good luck with that. Thanks for all the comments I believe I will pass.

HOw can you tell? Serial #. All Rose subs are in the 62XXXXX range. See these posts regarding the rose 7016 from a few years ago that I did. http://www.mwrforum.net/forums/showthread.php?t=30433 And this one from 2008: http://www.mwrforum.net/forums/showp...16&postcount=8

That serial # doesn't match the common fake (but it is close) but there is so much wrong with this watch that short of better photos it is at best a mixmash of parts and at worst fake - either at too much money

A rose 7016 would have a mix 600,000 serial. 737 is way too late.

I know, it should have a flake dial, yet it has a Rose. If the case is real - and I have my doubts, it would be with the wrong dial

I concur with John and John. A retrofitted rose dial 7016? NO WAY for this watch. Case was already funky on its own, and now a serial/ dial issue. Not worth the risk. Let it go and save your hard-earned money.
