Can any one recommend some good books that cover the sports models and a bit of history?

I have flicked through "A Movement in Time with Breitling & Rolex" by Mark A Cooper. It's a good book for covering the history of Rolex and has a nice section on spotting a fake but I still have a thirst for more knowledge.

I have noticed one on Amazon called "Rolex Wristwatches: An Unauthorized History" but it weights in at £100 (or $78). Not sure if its worth the money!

I think one of the best out there for the $$, is "THE ROLEX REPORT", 4th edition. I am thinking of getting one. I am only interested in subs, SD and GMT MASTERs and I think it covers them really well ... can someone please comment???

Here are some Rolex books.

I can recommend "Vintage Sport's Rolex watches".

Also I suggest you get:

James Dowling's book "The Best of Time...." and "The Rolex Report" by John E. Brozek.

You should be able to find all of them on amazon.com

I bought the Rolex Report directly from John via ebay. The book is a few years old so very new models are not going to be included. I asked if a later version existed and he never answered my email...or left me feedback. But the book is a good book covering the overall line going back almost 40 years. The section on fakes is good but dated. His fake examples are bad fakes so it's obvious most of the time which is which. Todays' fakes are much better than the ones he pictures.

The section on bracelet codes is very informative. A great book if you are shopping for a used Rolex but not if you are looking for a book with lots of WIS porn

Arthur, Vintage Rolex Sports Models would be the one that best covers your criteria of "sports models and a bit of history." The Rolex Report is also a great book, a bit more general in scope as well as the cheapest of the lot, so you might one to pick it up some time as well. My only complaint with that one is that the photographs are in black and white, not color.

By comparison, The Unauthorized History is the biggest, most general in scope and the most expensive. It has tons of photographs. It's more of a coffee table book than the other two as it's too big and heavy to lug around easily.

I highly recommend all three to any interested Rolex enthusiasts.

Vintage Sports Models is a great book, I have the original, but the reviews of the second edition on Amazon aren't great

I recieved "The Best of Time" for Christmas and love it! Very thorough with tons of high quality color pictures. I recommend it highly. I looked at "The Rolex Report", but the black-and-white photos kinda turned me off. Makes the book look cheap IMO.
