Does Anyone Else Offshore Fish
Just wondering if anyone here enjoys offshore fishing? Here in NJ I make the run out for different types of tuna (yellowfin, bluefin, big eye), mahi, and other pelagic fish. I also enjoy fishing on my friends boat in Ocean City, MD and making the run for Marlin...waiting for the nice water to move offshore. By far Costa Rica has been my favorite place to date, the water is so calm and you almost get tired of catching Sailfish. I'll post some photos soon. Who else enjoys this sport?

I fish offshore as well, put on my wetsuit that to a shark looks like a grey seal, swim out a few yards to stand on a rock, and then fish, for Stripers

Used to when I was a boy, we would use this gigantic shepard's hook thing to connect to old oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Good times...

Have done so, many times and caught, all manner of ocean beasts. Most interesting aspect at times can be some of the "not so sea worthy" participants adding to the bait stream

Just got back from Outer Banks. Went on a 6 man charter "Jamesey Boy" 48' Hatteras the capt built. Tuna bite was awesome up until the day we went fishing. Reports of people limiting out on yellowfin by noon was common until the weekend came. Lots of weekend warriors took up some tunas (i counted 37 boats at the "point" at one time). still got ours tho. 5 yellow fins in the 50lb class and 6 mahi in the 15-20 lb range. Went to Ocean City, MD once and that was my last time. Worst outing ive ever been associated with. Heard tuna fishing is good out of Lewes, DE but its a haul to get to the gulfstream. If you ever need extra bodies for a charter, hit me up! I'm in Northern VA and will try to make it!

Love too; however, I get sea sick. Have to take Dramamine and then okay.
Still prefer fishing for smallmouth bass. |

You would figure that since I live in South Florida that I would go often but I've only been once since moving down here. I went more when I lived in GA. Largest fish I've ever caught was a Sail in Acapulco, Mexico:

Offshore? All the fish I mentioned.
Inshore, fluke, bluefish, striped bass, porgy, sea bass.... If you wish, you can PM me and I can recommend a Party boat or charter nearby where you'll be staying, if you do come this way. |

About once a month when I was in FL full-time, now a few times a year when I'm in town and the weather is good... We need to get the new boat out, thinking a Bahamas run for a long weekend for its first fish!
Usually going for Sails, occasionally Tuna or Mahi Mahi especially when in the Bahamas... |
