Online shopping for a watch can anyone help?
Hey all,
I'm seriously thinking of buying a watch from an online seller (for the first time) in particular a Silver dial / Blued Hands Speedmaster Broadarrow with Exhibition Back Ref Number: 321.12.42.50.02.001 It has been compared the the Rolex Daytona (which is a little out of my price range!) and I really love the look of this baby it smiles nice and wide at me :) Now I know that there are some very reliable online sellers but how many of us have bought from one and had a good or bad experience? The ones I have heard that are reputable are: allanfurman.com authenticwatches.com jomashop.com amazon.com Does anyone have a site that they have used and can suggest? How about online coupons or rebates is there such a thing for sites like this? Please psot here or PM me with any suggestions or comments... Thanx guys! Ren

Not enough choices, my answer would be "yes, but I don't know if I would again!" I have to know some things about the seller. It's been said here many times - trust the seller.

Yep, I bought from www.watchseller.com. I've also bought some from TZ.
If you can get this watc with open papers, it would be better since the FP3303 movement had earlier issues. This way you can have a better chance of getting the repair under warranty. Make sure the chronos work. Who is the online seller?

I have been able to get 25% off every time I purchased an Omega from an AD.
Have you tried speaking to ADs within traveling distance?

Nice watch, Ren!
I would second Paul's suggestion. You should be able to get a good deal on an Omega at an AD.

Obviously the AD is always the "safest" route to go. For my most recent purchase (DateJust I received today) I bought online from Alan Furman. This was for a number of reasons that I won't bother to list. So this has been my only experience buying a "high end" watch online. I got great customer service while shopping for this watch. I spoke directly to Alan on the phone several times. When he didn't have the exact model I wanted in stock he was able to get it within 1 day and ship it the very next. The watch arrived in perfect condition with all the necessary paperwork, tags, etc.
The only negatives from this experience were that Alan told me he would email me and call me to let me know he had received the model I requested and was shipping it. They did not notify me and while at work today I got a courtesy call from UPS notifying me of a delivery due today. I had to rush home from work this morning to make sure I was available to sign for the package. If Alan had let me know that the watch had shipped I could have planned accordingly. That could be the result of no more than miscommunication at AlanFurman. Everything else was positive and I would recommend them if you were determined to buy a high end watch online. Sorry for the long response but I wanted to share my experience. I hope it helps. Good luck. |

i would be very careful purchasing online. i like buying from people i know, face-to-face, and that factor increases with the amount of the purchase. but you know all this already! good luck.

Zeetan at www.collectorstime.com
I've purchased 5 or 6 watches from him, and certainly would again. |
