Watch accuracy really bad...should I sell?

Well, I knew it was too good to last. I picked up an Oysterquartz model 17000 over a week ago and despite a battery change and timing check from Rolex NY, my Oysterquartz has proven itself unreliable.

I set it a week ago, and checked its accuracy today. It has gained .5 second in the last week! Should I sell it? How can I ever trust this watch to give me accurate time in the future? We have only been together a week and this is how my watch decides to treat me?

Is there a support group I can attend?

Seriously though, a half a second a week is within the 5 seconds a month I was told by the Rolex rep, and I am thrilled with its accuracy. And I much prefer it be fast rather than slow.

Amazing accuracy all in a beautiful package!

If Rolex made a digital I would probably buy it...and it would probably be one of the finest digital watches made!

Gaining 0.5 seconds in a week?!

Make sure you give it a full manual wind, 40 turns....

Looks good and great to hear you enjoying it so much.

I would be covered either way...

.5 second early, no problem.
.5 second late...I have a wife....so she lets me know immediately...

.5 seconds in a week, terrible, terrible. Package it up and send it to me then you'll feel much better about your inaccurate watch. Really though, fantastic!

Always loved the OQ case and braclet and yes its quite good accuracy from a quartz but overall accuracy in quartz watches the leaders are still the Japanese. Now with the Seiko Grand and Astron quartz 8J and 9F from same period as the OQ movement there range on accuracy +- 2 seconds a year.

.5 seconds a week, that's about 2 seconds a month, at that rate in a few years you will be late for something.

Your right, that think has got to go.

Just throw it away. No sense in selling and making someone else's life hell. I mean if you run 1/2 second late to a meeting you are most certainly fired. Of course you can always send it my way, I will dispose of properly. HAHA!!

Looks great, enjoy!!!!

That's a really nice classic watch. Keep it.

Someone once told me that collecting a time piece is about passion, use our mobile phones if we want accurate timing.

Mine is very accurate.. Although i'd still be happy with it if it was 10+ a day.

Thank you once again Hal for selling your stunner to me
