Greetings
Hello all, First time poster here. I've been a dedicated follower of all things Rolex since my military days when I was issued, what I later found out was a Milsub. It was only years later that I found out what they are worth, and couldn't help thinking that I should have hung on to it. One of those "Homer Simpson" moments I thinkI have owned a couple of Submariners in my time which are long gone and now wear a 2005 Explorer, which I find eminently wearable. I also have a Rolex military pocket watch that belonged to my Grandfather in WW2. This pocket watch was single handedly responsible for my interest in the mechanics of watches, as it was given to me when I was about 6. I promptly stripped it down to it's component parts and forgot about it. Many years later I was looking around my parents attic and I came upon the watch in pieces in a box. I felt pretty bad about the state it was in so I did a couple of watchmaking courses, and when I had gained enough knowledge I began putting it together. To my amazement, the watch was undamaged, and just had one cap jewel missing. I must have been one careful kid I currently work from home where I tinker around with watches and also dabble with making leather watch straps.
I have a modest, but diverse collection of watches and pocket watches and quite a few projects that I have yet to get round to. Anyway that's about all that is publishable Looking forward to some interesting reading |
