Any info on AP's Next Gen 42mm ROOs ??
The current 42mm ROO models ( Panda, Navy, Safari etc ) IMO are in need of a refreshing. What will be the chance that new successor models will appear in 2014 SIHH? My wishlist will include more colors, FC and ceramic cases, in-house movement, a back display, option for pin buckle and lume. I am actually holding back buying a 3rd AP waiting for this. I am not sure what is AP product cycle. Perhaps those with more knowledge and experience collection AP can share?

Who knows until things actually show up, but I have heard from AP AD that current 42mm's are going to start to be discontinued, which would lead me to believe something is coming. If anything is announced at 2014 SIHH, it will be this time next year (or later) before you would start to see anything.
I also heard next year we will see a new serial letter 'I'. As with any watch brand, I don't believe anything, until they make an 'official' announcement. However, I would agree with you that introducing some 'new' 42's would be a good thing. |

I probably wouldn't hold back if something has your attention at the moment.
We haven't even seen the pieces from the 2013 release, nevermind 2014. Not to mention it'll take even more months between the time they actually show up and when they would be more easily attainable. All of a sudden you are looking at 2015 for a purchase. |

IMO, FC as a regular production material is deadman walking.

You know what I would love?
A 40mm version of the current 44mm novelty ROOs. It would wear like a 42mm but still have enough presence for my small wrist! I'll keep dreaming for now... |

i cant see offshores being only available in 44mm..
would love to see new 42mm designs.. but i think we are a long time away.. but IMO Jarno Trulli could have been it.. it incorporated new design elements like floating bezel, hands, pushers etc |

It would be interesting to get a refreshed ROO 42 lineup.

Not many of the 42mm ROO's will be available for that long.

My guess is that 42mm ROOs will be slowly phased out and long gone. So get them while you can. Letter 'I' are already out with the ROO Ceramic Diver.

I also think the FC will be a goner soon. It makes no sense to keep in the range with the introduction of an all ceramic 44 that shares the exact same dial as it's brother in FC. I just don't understand why AP would plan on keeping two exact same dials in the same model watch, why wouldn't they have made the dial on the new ceramic a bit different?

Why would AP do that? Not everyone has the wrist size to carry a 44mm ROO.

Because as mentioned by Francois-Henry Bennahmias in his interview with Timezone their new direction and business strategy includes trimming down the number of references they have. For instance, that's why the Rubberclad is being phased out now.

This is an interesting thread. Good information. I can personally pull off 44mm, but prefer 42mm for ROO's. I may be in the minority though...

I don't think the 42 will be completely gone, but for sure thinned down to a few models.

Have heard big watches are a fad for so long. But every companies line up always has at least 44mm. I think 41mm to 44mm is the knew standard. My opinion

But a lot references will be phased out since FHB believes in a slimmer collection.
