Explorer II our exploring!
In early July, myself and 10 others went on a little journey in Colorado. Started in Durango where we caught a scenic railway that dropped us off at the Neddleton trailhead where we hiked in 6 miles to set up camp. Along the way we gained 3,000 ft to put us at about 11,000 ft above sealevel. Plan was to hit 4 of the 14,000 ft peaks in the area; Windom, Sunlight, Eolus, and North Eolus. Here is a shot of the Explorer II on top of Windom. I bypassed Sunlight as my girlfriend did not have the best time coming down off of Windom. Eolus mountain posed its own challenges and I made it to about 13, 500 ft before calling that far enough to me.
Had a great time and was happy to have the Rolex with me along the way! [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] |

Well done! Did you ever had to use the watch as a compass?

Great story, thanks for sharing
Had my old Expl.II up/down segments of the AT but nothing like 14K' of course - - Did the Neal's Gap-Blood Mtn. segment - about 2 miles and +1300' in an hour. Actually coming down was more treacherous than going up.
