Rolex overhaul and polish
I am in the process of getting my Rolex GMT 2 C 2 tone overhauled and polished. My AD quoted me a price of 490 to 590 is this the current price for this or should I take it to someone else? I found a place on line called Altin Place its in California they do this same thing for around 350. I live close to Indianapolis so if anyone knows of a place please let me know.

A proper Rolex shop will take the watch completely apart, clean and check every single part of the movement, replace any out of tolerance parts, reassemble, oil and time it... It will come back very near like new.. They will properly re-finish the case and bracelet (they don't "polish" it) A cut-rate shop will only disassemble to major components, sonic clean the assemblies and put it back together..they will be unlikely to replace any of the required expendable and worn parts... You pay less because you get less..

The few hundred dollars you think you're saving is not worth it.
Its bad enough you will be without the watch for a while. It would be a lot worse if in that time an incompetent overhauls(read: butchers) your watch. Get it done right. |

This may not be popular but I had my 18kt GMT and my TT sub done by them and was very happy with the results...only my own experience as I am not connected with them
